Apprentice Opportunity – Learn the Art of Tattooing
Are you ambitious, hardworking, and passionate about art? Do you dream of becoming a professional tattoo artist and building a career in an industry that values creativity, dedication, and skill? If so, this may be the opportunity for you.
I'm a black and grey realism tattoo artist based in Woodford, QLD, looking for a motivated apprentice to join me on this journey. This isn’t just about learning to tattoo – it’s about mastering an artform, growing as a professional, and developing the skills needed to run a successful career and business.
What You Need to Know About Tattoo Apprenticeships
Tattoo apprenticeships are unique. They aren’t structured like regular jobs – they’re closer to an unpaid internship. Here’s why:
Tattoo artists are sole traders. We either work on commission or pay rent to the studio and keep profits from our tattoos.
Until you begin tattooing, there’s no income – apprenticeships are unpaid.
That said, I don’t believe in dragging things out unnecessarily. If you put in the effort and prove your ability, I’ll make sure your progression towards tattooing is streamlined and fair.
For the right candidate – someone who shows ambition, professionalism, and a solid work ethic – I’m open to offering a modestly paid apprentice/assistant role to support you during your apprenticeship.
What I’m Looking For
I’m not interested in just anyone who “likes tattoos.” I’m looking for someone who truly wants to excel. Someone with the drive to put in the work and the hunger to become the best artist they can be.
Artistic Ability
A strong portfolio of original artwork.
Hand-drawn skills (pencil, pen, charcoal, paint) are essential – not just iPad work.
An interest in black and grey realism and portrait-style art (this is my specialty and where I can teach you the most).
Work Ethic & Attitude
Ambition, motivation, and resilience.
A “go-getter” mindset – willing to put in the hours and effort.
Willingness to learn, practice, and be pushed to grow.
Professionalism
Experience in other jobs is highly recommended.
Strong people skills – you must be able to make clients comfortable, communicate well, and act professionally at all times.
Social Media Skills
In today’s tattoo industry, artists also need to be marketers.
A good understanding of how to use social media effectively to promote work, grow an audience, and connect with potential clients is highly valued.
What I Offer
If you’re the right fit, I’ll give you everything I have to offer:
Full training in tattooing, from fundamentals to advanced techniques.
We are a very busy studio with plenty of work on offer.
Mentorship in business, economics, and marketing – helping you not only become a great artist but also run a thriving tattoo career.
A streamlined pathway – I will push you, challenge you, and make sure you progress without unnecessary delays.
My goal is simple: to make you a better artist than I am.

If this excites you, and you feel you have what it takes, I’d love to see your application.
